Meet Dr. Reema Lakshmi

Certified Yoga Instructor  ·  Ayurvedic Doctor (BAMS)

Reema grew up in Kerala — where the air smells of monsoon rain and temple incense, and yoga was simply part of daily life, not a fitness trend. She trained in classical Hatha and Vinyasa before completing her five-year medical degree in Ayurveda (BAMS) .

What that means for your class: every session is shaped by a doctor's understanding of the body — the pace, the breathwork, the cool-down — all chosen to leave you genuinely restored, not just stretched. There is nowhere else in Suffolk where you get that.

Discover Balance,
Strength & Inner Peace

We invite you to step away from the noise of daily life and reconnect with your true self. Our sessions beautifully integrate traditional wisdom with modern movement, offering a supportive space where everyone — from absolute beginners to seasoned practitioners — can find a sense of community and vitality.

Whether you are looking to build physical strength, calm a busy mind, or find deeper metabolic and emotional balance, our holistic classes are designed to guide you home to yourself.

Suffolk Deserves
Something Different

If you're carrying stress you can't shake, sleeping badly, or just feel like your body needs something more than a gym session — you're not alone, and you're exactly who these classes are for. Yoga has strong clinical evidence behind it. The difference here is that Dr. Reema brings an Ayurvedic doctor's understanding to every session, so the practice is shaped around your whole body, not just your flexibility.

There is nowhere else in Suffolk where you can practise yoga under the guidance of a qualified Ayurvedic doctor. That's not a marketing claim — it's simply true.

1 in 4 adults in Suffolk report high levels of anxiety or stress (NHS Suffolk, 2023)
68% of UK adults say they struggle with sleep at least once a week (Sleep Council UK)
8 wks is all it takes to see measurable improvements in stress and flexibility with regular yoga practice (British Journal of Sports Medicine)

"Health is not just the absence of disease — it is the presence of vitality, ease, and inner quiet."

02

സൂര്യ നമസ്കാരം  · salutation to the sun

Twelve powerful postures fluidly synchronized with the breath — a moving meditation that creates internal heat, quietens the mind, and awakens every muscle group and organ system.

  • Digestive Fire (Agni) — Forward and backward bends stimulate abdominal organs and improve elimination.
  • Cardiovascular Conditioning — Strengthens the heart and builds stamina gently but effectively.

04

ധ്യാനം  · turning inward

Meditation & Deep Relaxation

Sacred time for Yogic Meditation and Yoga Nidra — psychic sleep. Nothing to achieve, nowhere to be. You are guided into quiet awareness, allowing every benefit of your practice to fully integrate.

  • Mental Rejuvenation — Profound brain rest that clears clutter, improves sleep, and combats burnout.
  • Focus & Mindfulness — Keeps you anchored in the present moment long after you leave the mat.
  • Self-Compassion — A safe inner space to observe thoughts without judgment, fostering true belonging.

What is Ayurveda?

And why does it make Dr. Reema's classes different?

Ayurveda is a 5,000-year-old system of medicine that originated in India. The word means "the science of life" in Sanskrit. Unlike Western medicine, which typically treats symptoms, Ayurveda looks at the whole person — body, mind, and spirit — and asks: what is out of balance?

It identifies three fundamental energies called doshas — Vata, Pitta, and Kapha — that govern everything from your digestion to your sleep patterns to how you respond to stress. When these are in balance, you feel well. When they're not, illness follows.

Dr. Reema holds a Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) — a five-and-a-half year medical degree. She uses this knowledge to shape every class: the pace, the breathwork, the sequences, and the cool-down are all chosen with your body's natural rhythms in mind.

FAQ

Everything a first-timer in Ipswich wants to know.

Not at all. Flexibility is a result of yoga, not a requirement for it. Dr. Reema's Hatha Flow class is specifically designed for complete beginners, and props are always provided to support every body type and ability level.

Comfortable, stretchy clothing you can move freely in. Mats, blocks, bolsters, and blankets are all provided — you don't need to bring anything. If you have your own mat and prefer to use it, you're welcome to bring it along.

Yes, free parking is available on site. The studio is also accessible by bus from Ipswich town centre. Full directions are provided when you book.

Please get in touch before booking. As a qualified Ayurvedic doctor, Dr. Reema can advise on which classes are appropriate for your condition and make modifications where needed. Many students with chronic pain or injuries find Yin & Restore particularly beneficial.

Yoga is a physical and meditative practice. Ayurveda is a complete system of medicine. They are sister sciences — both originating in ancient India — and are most powerful when practised together. At Breathe and Belong, Dr. Reema weaves Ayurvedic principles into every class, so you're not just exercising, you're actively supporting your body's natural balance.

Simply use the contact form below or send a message via WhatsApp. Dr. Reema will confirm your spot and send you all the details you need ahead of your first class.
